April 3rd

This week's Bible story comes from Matthew 26:19-30.
From My First Bible

The Last Supper
After Jesus had finished washing everyone's feet. He lay at the table with His disciples, ready to eat the Passover meal. The meal was lamb, bread with out yeast, biter herbs, and wine. It was a special time of remembering how God had rescued Moses and the Israelites in Egypt many years ago.
Jesus looked at His disciples gathered around Him and said,
"One of you is going to hand Me over to be killed."
His friends were very worried.
"Surely not I!" they all said.
Jesus already knew it would be Judas Iscariot.
While they were eating, Jesus took the bread, broke it, and gave it to His disciples.
"Eat this and remember Me," said Jesus."This is My body."
Then He took the cup of wine, thanked God for it, and handed it round.
"Drink this and remember Me," said Jesus. "This is My blood, given for you for the forgiveness of sins."
Jesus' disciples drank the wine. They sang a song together, then went away to the Mount of Olives.

March 31st

This week we begin exploring Jesus' journey to the cross. Today we learned about Palm Sunday.

From The Beginner's Bible
Make Way for the King
John 12

Two of Jesus' friends went to look for a donkey.
Jesus had told them just where to find it.
It whirl be tied right by the village gate.
It was going to be a special donkey.
Jesus was going to ride on it.

When the friends found the donkey, they took it to Jesus.
They  put their cots on its back, and Jesus got on.
When the people saw Jesus coming, they began to shout with joy.
"Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is the King
who comes in the name of the Lord!"

Some people cut branches off the palm tress.
They laid the branches o the road.
Other people spread their coats on the road.
And they ll praised God in loud voices for the wonderful things
Jesus had done.

Jesus rode to the big city of Jerusalem.
 They crowds followed him.
The leaders of the people were angry.
"See how all the people follow Jesus now?
They do not follow us anymore.
We must get rid of Jesus," they said.
